Environmental statement
I am committed to reducing my personal environmental impact and that of my business activities for the following reasons:
- We all have a responsibility to each other and the world. The climate emergency needs all hands on deck. We all have to do as much as we can individually and as a collective.
- Reaching for Net Zero in operation makes good business sense. Low carbon, high efficiency businesses perform better now and will continue to do so in the future.
- Reducing my emissions adds value for clients. My emissions count towards the Scope 3 emissions of my clients, so reducing my impact will have further effects down the line.
My business is set up to be lean and efficient. That includes the environmental aspect where I have designed my work patterns and ways of working to have a low environmental impact. For example:
- I work from home as much as possible and use 100% renewable energy through Octopus.
- I only buy new electronic products when absolutely necessary, and always prioritise buying used.
- I have set a target to cut my business car use by 100% in the next 18 months in favour of public transport and my own two feet.
- I don’t use any Large Language Models (LLMs) or “Generative AI” tools.
Environmental impact has also become a key factor for me when assessing a business or supplier. Questions I ask include:
- Does their product or service have a positive or negative environmental impact?
- Are they actively interested in their impact?
- Do they have plans to reduce it?
I also commit to helping clients and suppliers report on and reduce their environmental impact wherever possible in the following ways:
- Assess sustainability strategies and establish reporting structure
- Make introductions to low-carbon companies where appropriate
- Recommend and advise on low-impact alternatives
